Buenos Aires province, summer 1930s. Mateo, an anarchist ex-convict, travels the Pampas plains with an old truck loaded with stolen chickens and the illusion of finding his rooster, El Rey, to lead him to victory in a fight. A chance encounter puts him in front of Aurelia and Carmelo, two brothers in search of their father. With no fixed course to tie him to a certain destination, Mateo decides to accompany them south.
