Bookseller Dalibor Vrána likes women and women like him, so alimony eats up most of his income. He takes advantage of the fact that in restaurants people often mistake him for a waiter and decides to improve his financial situation in an original way. He becomes an unattainable phantom of restaurants in Prague and soon also outside of Prague, and a terror to slow waiters.
